Can you be more specific?

If you’ve messaged me, a recruiter, or anyone for help, please read this 🙋🏻‍♀️

One of the reasons why I find my DMs so overwhelming is because the questions I get are too general and too broad. So instead of answering, I get paralyzed knowing I need to write a book to answer, so I don’t respond.

I hate this because it goes against my values of wanting to help, but here's where we can help each other out.

What’s too broad and general?
🔻 How do I get into X industry?
🔻 Can you give me career advice?
🔻 How do I get a job at X company?
🔻 Can you tell me what I should do in my job search?

A better way to approach this is to be SPECIFIC!

🔥 BUT I’ll do you one even better 🔥

⭐️ Share what you’ve already done AND be specific with your asks! ⭐️

✅ I applied to a number of jobs with the same resume and I’m not getting interviews. Is there something I can implement into my resume to stand out?
✅ I reached out to a number of people on LinkedIn to network with X message and not getting a response. Any advice to better my messaging?
✅ I have X experience and Y skills but still having trouble getting my foot in the door to X industry, is there additional skills I should work on?
✅ I applied to X job on your career site and have Y relevant skills based on the job description. Is there a skill that would make me stand out?

By doing this:
🔼 You show up prepared
🔼 Your chances of getting a response goes up
🔼 You create a conversation that can be done across multiple messages
🔼 The conversation can be more valuable because the other person knows a little more about the work you’ve put in

If you haven’t done this yet, try it! Let me know if your response rate changes 🤗
