Lean into Curiosity
Here’s a piece of career advice for anyone, no matter where you are in your journey, the company, the industry, the level, title, position, etc.
👏🏼 Lean into curiosity and learn the business 👏🏼
There is power in understanding the business you are in, beyond your role, team, or department. Yes, it's comfortable when you don’t have to think about everybody else, but what can you gain?
⭐️ Institutional knowledge
⭐️ Develop yourself as a leader
⭐️ Challenge your critical thinking
⭐️ Ability to try and do something new
⭐️ Build trust with peers and stakeholders
⭐️ Personal and professional development
⭐️ Ability to collaborate with different teams
⭐️ Build trust with your networks and communities
⭐️ Move away from a “copy and paste” mentality and start innovating
Where can you start this in your current company? Think about where the company has been and what direction it’s going in now.
💡 What kind of talent are they bringing in?
💡 What areas of the business did they invest in?
💡 Where has new innovations been implemented?
💡 What’s a problem they have put solutions towards?
💡 What divisions/groups/organizations are they building/dismantling?
💎 Then ask why.
💎 Then ask how.
💎 Then tie it together to what you do.
💎 Repeat.
Sounds like a lot of extra work, but growth happens outside of your comfort zone! 💪🏼
