January 2022 Digest: One Day At a Time

I get tired of hearing myself say things like “time is going by too fast” and “I can’t believe it’s already the end of the month” or some variation of complaining that time just flies and being shocked by it each time. I decided I would be intentional by sitting in whatever quiet pocket I can get during the day and just FEEL the moment. Instead of feeling like time was flowing past me, I’d make it my friend. That’s why this month’s quote and mantra is “One Day At a Time”. I’ve found it helpful because as we near the end of January, I don’t feel that time has zipped past me. I feel confident that time was not wasted and I could appreciate what this first month of 2022 offered.

I like to document everything I’ve accomplished or am proud of at the end of the month. It’s a peaceful reflection in the chaos that consumes my days. I also find a very spiritual lift from it because I’m actually counting my blessings. This exercise is also fun to do because of the full circle you come to realize at the end of the year; when you see how the last 12 months unfolded, with all its twists and turns. I particularly appreciate the moment of transformation when your January-self is so different compared to your December-self.

Anywho, January. It’s been a wonderful start to the new year. Lots of great things to be thankful for. Here’s some of my highlights:

PERSONAL:

  • Taking a moment every day to BE IN THE MOMENT

  • I’ve picked up 2 books and am halfway through both

  • I’ve made the decision to have less screen time and therefore picking up reading again

  • I’ve recorded episodes for 2 different podcasts

  • I’ve secured my first speaking engagement of 2022 that’s scheduled for February

  • And in my very personal life with family, I am incredibly blessed to have my husband and daughter. They are my reason, my WHY, the motivation for me to continue to do and be my best. While marriage and parenthood have its challenges, there is vulnerability and growth that is so precious that can only be described as unconditional love.

PROFESSIONAL:

  • My job has shown me challenges and gaps that I am excited about because of the opportunity it provides for me to continue to learn

  • I’ve built rapport with my team and hiring leaders and continue to be a partner to support and advocate for them

WHAT AM I CURIOUS ABOUT AND WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT:

  • Honestly, NFTs.

WHAT STEPS AM I TAKING TO KEEP LEARNING:

  • Keeping a running list of questions I have during the day and making sure I am finding out the answers

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE THIS MONTH THAT HELPED ME?

  • A few of my LinkedIn followers. They have really build a supportive community around me and so thankful for them.

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE THIS MONTH THAT I HELPED?

  • Tobi, Manny, Ali, Timothy, Annie.

WHAT ARE THINGS THAT I’M DOING THAT IS OUTSIDE OF MY COMFORT ZONE?

  • I’ve made a post everyday on LinkedIn and am continuing to grow my personal brand while continuing to help others. It’s still scary to put myself out there

DID I SHOOT MY SHOT AT SOMETHING THIS MONTH?

  • Yes! Reached out to a podcast host to ask if I can be on the show. HE SAID YES!

WHAT AM I WORRIED AND ANXIOUS ABOUT AND HOW AM I HANDLING IT?

  • There are things that grab my attention during the day that don’t serve me and effects my energy. I need to create boundaries and set expectations. Sorry, that’s vague.

AM I PRACTICING SELF-CARE AND MAKING IT A PRIORITY?

  • NEED to do more of this and be better!

I’m excited to see what February brings. January brought a lot of great momentum for me already, but I also see it as the beginning of the runway. I look forward to what will continue ahead!

Stay along for the journey!
