February 2022 Digest: The Law of Attraction

Law of Attraction by Michael Losier is one of my favorite books.

The Law of Attraction can be defined as: I attract to my life whatever I give my attention, energy, and focus to, whether positive or negative.

I love this so much because it really is simple. However, I know it’s not going to be simple for everyone. Our attention, energy, and focus ebbs and flows throughout a single day. We live in a world where distractions, urgency, fires, is just the norm of the day-to-day. However, I was very intentional this month with this law of attraction and can say that I’ve reaped the benefits of it.

I highly encourage anyone to pick up the book and read and experience it themselves, so I’m only going to focus on one of the 3 steps in the book that I put into practice this month.

Give your Desire Attention. This focuses on the way you talk about your desires, think about it, visualize it, and present it to others. It’s the attention, energy, and focus you give to it.

This month, I thought a lot about recognition. I love helping others, putting them first before me, and stretching myself thin to support friends, family, and colleagues. I don’t do this for recognition because the reward is seeing them thrive with the help I can provide them. However, I also do a lot of this for free, on whatever free time I can find, and wanting to be recognized is a healthy and normal desire in this case.

I started picturing what recognition would look like. It started out with wanting to hear more “thank you’s” and then stepping it up to being recognized publicly for the help I provide and tying it into the personal brand I’ve been working really hard to develop over the past 2 years. Once I identified this, I got to work.

  • I wanted to hear more “thank you’s” so I started reaching out to my network and thanking others. There are people in my network and communities that positively impacted me personally and professionally and while they know I am thankful for them, I put my attention, energy, and focus in letting them know. It felt really good to tell them and those good feelings continued to grow, so I kept going.

  • I wanted to be recognized more publicly and expanding my reach with my personal brand, so I started recognizing others publicly. I’m only on LinkedIn and so I began tagging people into my posts. These individuals are incredible human beings, doing incredible things, and it only felt right to give them the spotlight and lifting up their success.

I did these things over a number of weeks. I didn’t spend hours of my time on it, but whatever time I did spend, I made sure my attention and energy was aligned.

And over the course of a few days, the law of attraction got to work.

  • My inbox (email, LinkedIn, text) were flooding with people suddenly thanking me. Not just simple thank you’s, but also people reaching out to ask if we can meet, if they could buy me a coffee, or have lunch, as a way of saying thanks. I was honestly floored but the genuine kindness everyone was giving me.

  • Not long after I made my public shoutouts in my LinkedIn posts, a few LinkedIn posts and comments were tagging me! I suddenly had an influx of connection requests and followers! I also had messages referring and recognizing me as the “Fairy Job Mother”!

The easiest way to understand the law of attraction is that whatever you put into the universe, you get back.

I plan to continue to practice the law of attraction in other areas of my life and see how and what it brings.

Hope everyone had a good month. Let’s get March!

Cheers!
