Who am I really, as a recruiter?
Here’s more insight into my role as a recruiter:
You know those things you all hate?
📝 Cover letters
👥 Long interview processes
👶🏼 What’s actually entry-level
🎓 Degrees on job descriptions
🕰 Not getting a response immediately
💵 Not knowing if you’re getting compensated properly
🌎 Hiring processes claiming diversity but not executing on it
I’m advising the process.
I’m advising on these with my hiring leaders.
I’m advising on the decisions they want to make in the hiring process.
I ask the hard questions and elicit deep conversations to unpack their reasoning for the process they want to implement.
I’m advising if they think to do or are doing any of the above.
I know that these can be barriers to the candidate’s experience. One of my favorite things as a recruiter is to bring the reality of the candidate in front of the hiring manager. I share the trends I see here on LinkedIn. I talk them through and have them think about solutions to elevate the experience in the hiring process. Then we discuss how that impacts the candidate’s perception of the company at large. I advise on how to make sure every candidate feels positive about the company, its people, and processes, no matter if they get a job or not.
Yes, these things may still show up because the hiring manager ultimately makes the decision. But I am fighting and pushing for change. I won’t stop because I care. I work to put my managers AND candidates in the best positions.
I’m not just putting butt in seats 🙅🏻♀️
I’m a recruiter and I don’t JUST hire people into open positions 🙅🏻♀️
I’m a strategic partner for my stakeholders and a value-adding function to my business. 🙋🏻♀️
And I love this job!
