What does it mean to be in a “creative” role? 👩🏻‍🎨

Early in my journey into the entertainment industry, I always felt this was the path to a fun and meaningful career.

I mean, the creatives, the ones on the frontlines of creating stories, characters, visuals, environments, music, etc get a lot of recognition. Roll credits and you see who they are 🎬

But when I found my career in recruitment inside the industry, being creative took on a whole new meaning. While I’m not touching the product directly, I am doing creative things and finding ways to support the business.

In my role, creative looks like this:

💡 Creative in finding specific skillsets and experiences.
💡 Creative in marketing for the open positions I’m hiring for.
💡 Creative in how I keep my candidates engaged with my company.
💡 Creative in how I handle the volume of candidates interested in the roles I’m hiring for.
💡 Creative in making sure candidates have a good experience in the recruitment process.
💡 Creative in supporting my stakeholders, since each one is different and has different hiring needs.

Creativity for me takes shape in the form of solving for finding, attracting, engaging, and hiring talent that will make films or video games as well as other supporting roles. My problem-solving for this industry is different from any other.

💎 The industry itself is creative in nature, so that means every role is too 💎

I’ve worked on the corporate side of entertainment and games and I’ve seen creative thinking and approaches from finance, accounting, HR, analytics, IT, legal, operations, and administration.

Define what creative means to you as you explore careers in these industries. Creativity can come from anywhere 💛

PS. I’d like to manifest that my name is in a game credit in the future. Pls and thx 😝
