#2021Rewind

This year was the first time I documented every achievement I had. Every win; big and small. Both professionally and personal. I say the first time because I usually track my achievements from a professional standpoint. I’m usually asking myself how I’ve grown in my job, my company, my skills. However, I’ve missed out on putting more emphasis on me.

Because I kept a very detailed list starting in January 2021, I’m now able to really take a step back, look back at everything I’ve done, and reflect on the true meaning of personal growth.

While I won’t share everything, here’s some professional highlights:

JANUARY:

  • Received my SHRM Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential

FEBRUARY:

  • Was reached out to for my first real speaking engagements

MARCH:

  • Was matched to mentor 4 students

APRIL:

  • Became the Chairperson for SHRM@SJSU

MAY:

  • Was Promoted to Sr. Talent Acquisition Specialist (previous role)

JUNE:

  • Lead the Summer Internship Program for Ubisoft (previous role)

JULY:

  • Was reached out to by Disney for a Recruiter position

AUGUST:

  • Became a VIP Expert at FairyGodBoss

SEPTEMBER:

  • Received offers from Disney and Netflix

OCTOBER:

  • Started my new role at Netflix

NOVEMBER:

  • Participated in an Industry Speed Networking Event @SJSU

DECEMBER:

  • Winner of the Top Recruiter Awards 2021 for San Francisco and Top 20 in the USA

On the personal side, I can never stop bringing up the fact that I am a first time mom. Being a mother is the best job in the world and trumps any of the accomplishments I have professionally. I say this because parenthood is the HARDEST thing I’m doing. No day is the same. I feel like a constant failure. I have no idea if I’m doing anything right. But what makes it fulfilling is seeing my daughter everyday, seeing her change, grow, develop, and learn. When I think of the word “Impact”, I think how every word and action that comes from me and my husband will stick to her, and sometimes it’s not always the best parts. I have to be extremely mindful, patient, calm, and brave. The lessons I’m learning from her are far beyond my comprehension, but it is the coolest thing. If there’s one person who’s constantly changing me, it’s my daughter. She will always sum up how my year went. She’s my reason and my why.

As I look to 2022, there’s a lot I want to do. Things that I’ve been working on for a fews years now that I’m ready to share. While health has always been my priority, there’s a lot that can still be improved. Above all the things I want to do, I just hope I reflect on the year and feel exactly how I feel right now: HAPPY.

Today I launch my website and blog. I’m terrified right now. I’m sure I’ll wake up tomorrow morning wanting to unpublish and delete all the work I’ve put into it. But I’ve got to start somewhere. I’ve got to plant the seed, water, and nurture it, and see if it takes root.

As we close out the year, I wish everyone a very Happy New Year. However 2021 went for you, I hope 2022 brings you even better things. Sending you all love, light, hope, peace, joy, and a whole lot of pixie dust!

Cheers!
